Back in the cockpit

Original missions in a modern native engine: weapons, heat, damage, AI and objectives. Fly with keyboard, mouse or a standard gamepad.

02

Your company. Your calls.

Choose contracts, recover salvage, repair your Mechs, manage personnel and tune loadouts in the MechLab. Every deployment carries back into the campaign.

03

Classic roots. Enhanced horizons.

Classic provides a reference for the original behavior. Enhanced opens the way for remade visuals, richer terrain and experimental seated VR.

05 / Good to know

Before you
strap in.

A few answers for returning pilots
and new recruits.

Will I need the original game?

Yes. You’ll supply game data from your own legitimate copy of MechWarrior 2: Mercenaries Titanium. The intended release includes the new engine and a local importer, without the original game’s content.

Can I download OpenMercs now?

No public download is available yet, and no release date has been announced. An initial release is planned. Follow development for availability news.

Is the source code public?

The repository is currently private. A public repository is planned for the initial release; a public source license has not yet been announced.

What is the status of VR?

Experimental seated VR mission play is implemented through OpenXR in the development integration, including stereo rendering, head tracking and controller input. Integration review, headset presentation and performance work are ongoing. No standalone headset release is announced.

Which platforms will be supported?

Windows leads development. Broader platform validation is ongoing; release platforms and system requirements will be announced with a release.

Can I play in a browser or with friends?

NetMech multiplayer and campaign co-op are planned for a future version. The current development build is native and single-player; no browser-playable build is available.

Is this an official MechWarrior project?

No. OpenMercs is an independent, non-commercial project, unaffiliated with the owners of MechWarrior and BattleTech.
